This morning I woke up to a strong feeling of gratitude. You know, so strong that it is overflowing from your heart and you have to share it with everyone around you... As we go through life, our close friends come and go. When we lose our first long time best friend to an argument or misunderstanding, it really hurts. It hurts as much as going through a breakup with a boyfriend. But I have experienced that real and genuine friends come back after some time. It might take a few months or years, but they do come back. And so by the time we lose the second and third closest friend, we are kind of immune to it. I mean, it still hurts, and leaves us puzzled and wordering... don't get me wrong, but somehow I have learnt to let it go... My first lost close friend came back after 4 years. While she was “gone” I grew a lot and met other people which I might not have met if I was still close to her. Recently I lost two more close friends… and as I was still a bit sad and contemplating about it, I sent a prayer to the Universe that I want to find new friends... people who understand me, who I can share deep thoughts with as well as silliness, life experience and laughter. And you know what was the Universe’ almost immediate response? It showed me that my close friends are now here, in my new home in Varkala. We are tuned to the same wave and have so much to share. I love and enjoy spending time with my lovely neighbors, Meera & Sohan. They took the initiative and reached out to me...even though they originally thought I was unfriendly and grumpy...while I was actually just shy...haha ... and started sharing their home, delicious food and warm hearts with me. Some days Meera is feeding me the whole day with her home cooked food prepared with the best spice in the world - love. And Sohan is so patient and loves to share his wisdom and life experience. Some days we just talk or play board games till late at night and the next day we meet again for an early morning walk on a beach or Sunday breakfast. They came to my life exactly when I needed new friends and helped me realize that our good and close friends are right there, where we are... we just need to slow down to see and feel what is around us. And the more we appreciate it and share it, the more we feel.
